I had this mixer for several months. He did a great job of crushing ice, what is left my Hamilton Beach Blender cheeeapy smoking (literally!) I like the heavy glass jar will not break the base, although the same weight made it difficult for a person without much force to raise their hands with one hand or keep for very long. I am very pleased with the engine power and durability. For the price, it's great. . I bought this blender because my only prior could not handle ice cubes. It does a superb job on the ice cubes. It has a stainless steel blade and strong impulse crush ice button. The sturdy glass jar is easy to clean and ice is not zero. The next step is to add the other ingredients and finish the iced drink. There he flops. He just cannot mix the thick icy smoothie I like. It combines either the lower half of the mixture leaving the top half standing, or it starts churning, mixing, but soon draws air into the blade, leaving the blade switch and do nothing. I get around the problem by using a complicated routine. Make the smoothie is just too tedious. Here's what I do to make my smoothies with this blender, I mix a fresh banana to add a little liquid on crushed ice. Can I manually Add the frozen fruit (not blender) and run increasing speeds until it turns on the mixture of everything. Each time the mixture stops moving, I manually mixing (blender off) to release air and reboot. Even with fourteen speeds, I can not find a setting that works for more than a few seconds. . I wish I had read reviews before buying this blender. The plastic base broke almost immediately - after a few uses! The plastic seems to be defective. It cracked and collapsed under normal use - allowing the contents to escape. I was going to ask for a replacement screw on the base, but other tests indicate that the replacement also broke. I guess it almost new mixer is designed in the trash. Waste of money. . . . .
